Wasabi Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm, announced its formal partnership with Betamore, an 8000 square foot incubator and education technology campus in Baltimore. Wasabi Ventures has had its roots in Baltimore since 2008, investing in and incubating multiple companies across the area. With Betamore’s redefined vision, Wasabi Ventures recognized the unique opportunity to work with a leader in the Baltimore ecosystem.
“I grew up in Baltimore and I believe in Baltimore’s ecosystem. Being a partner with Betamore and its Academy program helps me to give back and grow Baltimore,” said Wasabi Ventures General Partner Tom “TK” Kuegler. “WV is committed to building this ecosystem, and this partnership articulates that belief. Finding a partner like Betamore that is dedicated to education and community building is key to the Wasabi Ventures mission.”
Wasabi Ventures and Betamore are actively exploring joint educational programs to be offered in the next 12 months. The joining forces of Betamore Academy and Wasabi Ventures Academy creates a multitude of opportunities for expanding the mission of both organizations.
In addition, Wasabi Ventures is interested in identifying individuals who have an interest in the startup space, as well as early stage startups that are in search of funding and guidance to help them reach their next stage of development. Betamore’s strong emphasis on growing businesses, cultivating 21st century education and community development are why this is a great partnership.
“We are looking forward to partnering with Wasabi Ventures. Creating strategic partnerships with funders, entrepreneurs, incubators and technology councils helps us to provide a higher level of service to our member companies,” said Jennifer Meyer, CEO at Betamore.
As Wasabi Ventures works closely with Betamore helping to build a stronger community in Baltimore, Kuegler will sit on Betamore’s Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will bring together the leaders in the Baltimore startup space, pooling together the resources and expertise of the community. Additionally Keugler will hold monthly office hours at Betamore, focused on helping entrepreneurs find the resources needed to build successful startups.
