Betamore Academy will be graduating another cohort of web developers this December, and Betamore Works is gearing up to help place these talented developers with local Baltimore companies. So far this program has helped place over 70% of our Academy graduates, and we hope to grow that number over the next few months.
What is Betamore Works?
The mission behind Betamore Works is to pair local tech talent with local companies. Baltimore is quickly becoming one of the premier locations to start a business, and Betamore is developing the talent to support these new ideas in the digital world. One of the advantages participating companies receive is initial access to our graduate portfolios. This means that at least three times a year our Betamore Works Partners get first dibs on the up and coming talent coming out of the Betamore Academy.
Our Academy students receive a personalized career concierge service that includes résumé development, interview prep, and portfolio critiques through their respective web development courses.
Why Hire Betamore Academy Graduates?
Students at Betamore are exposed to the latest and greatest in front-end and back-end web development. Our instructors come from some of the top local companies and bring years of expertise, as well as a discerning eye for what new technologies and updates are the most influential in the industry. Throughout the course students compile a repository of code, as well as final projects showcasing their new skills.
What is Hiring Day?
Betamore Works is getting an upgrade. Instead of simply connecting alumni and potential employers via e-mail, our Education team is developing a Hiring Day that will match qualified candidates with positions submitted by the Works Partners. Candidates will have short 8-10 minute interviews with the companies that are a best fit to their skill set and interests. In this way everyone’s time is maximized, and no company or candidate wastes time interviewing for a position that does not align with their goals.
Student portfolios will consist of class and personal projects. Graduates will be able to explain what they’ve learned and interviewers will have access to their code repositories to assess their skills. Works Partners will receive all of the student portfolios even if they are not matched with each graduate during the event. Our Hiring Day is set up so that conversations are purposeful and focused on meeting the needs of our graduates and our Works Partners.
