In this blog series, we will sit down with members of the Betamore Advisory Board and ask them 5 questions. First up is Christy Wyskiel, Senior Advisor to the President at Johns Hopkins University.
What’s your background?
I spent most of my career investing in medical technology companies. I love predicting the future, figuring out a way to put the future in a spreadsheet, and analyzing the next big thing.
What are you working on currently?
Trying to make Hopkins as fertile an environment as possible for companies to start, grow, and thrive. Making the Baltimore start up scene the go-to place for start ups.
Why did you choose Baltimore to live/work?
Baltimore is the ultimate in big city/ small town. Most things are accessible and often affordable, and the philanthropy community is vibrant. I love raising my children here, and it’s nice that since I live in the city, my commute is only 10 minutes.
What professional advice would you give to your 25-year old self?
Just work hard, follow your passion, and everything will work out. And quit eating sugar.
What’s a quote that you think sums up yourself?
Have a sense of urgency with all things that matter and can change the world for the better. But also do yoga. And breathe. Namaste.
